Where can I buy your cheeses?
You can visit us at our Cellar door between 10 am and 4 pm weekdays or go to our website and view stockists on our cheese finder page. (https://www.taragocheese.com/cheese-finder/)

 

Can I eat the rind?
The rind on all our cheeses are edible, however, it is a personal experience and can depend on the age of the cheese as to the flavor you will experience.

 

Best Before?
The Best before date is not used by date. We consider it a guide as some of our customers will not eat their favorite cheeses until after the best before.

 

How do I care for my cheese after purchase?
We recommend that you store soft surface-ripened cheese in the refrigerator?

 

How do I stop the smell?
Always re-wrap your cheese in new cling wrap, or a sealed container (with air space) and some wet towel scrunched in the corner.

 

How do I rewrap the cheese after cutting?
Always re-wrap your cheese in new cling wrap, or a sealed container (with air space) and some wet towel scrunched in the corner.

 

Can I freeze my cheese?
Yes freezing your Cheese is fine. You can expect some loss of flavour, and over time the water crystals grow and alter the texture. The theory with freezing is freeze quickly and thaw slowly. we suggest you wrap in parchment paper, in pieces you can remove 1 at a time, and seal in Zip lock bags – remove all air.

 

What Temperature for consuming your cheese?
SSRMC eats best at around 17°C and can become de-textured (mushy) above this.

 

What is SSRMC?
Soft Surface ripened and blue mould cheese.
